Watkins, Colorado - Sunday March 26th, David Bucho tore through the pit area at Watkins Track
at an estimated 60 mph and T-boned nine-year-old Loui Tanczer of Denver. Tanczer sustained several
serious injuries including bruised lungs, a bruised spleen, a broken femur, three broken ribs, a
broken arm, and a concussion. Fortunately, he's expected to fully recover. David Bucho suffered only
a broken wrist.
Witnesses say that Bucho was riding wide open down the pit road when Tanczer, a fairly
inexperienced rider, came off the pee wee track and headed onto the pit road where he was hit. The 60
mph impact was so great that Tanczer's motorcycle broke in half.
Authorities picked David Bucho up at the hospital, charged him with felony child abuse, and put him in jail.
Later in the week, his charges were upgraded to endangerment and vehicular assault and even more charges may be determined at a later time.
Please watch your speed in the pits! It's accidents like this that close our tracks.
Rich's Reaction:
Another avoidable injury. Was this the first pit riding incident at this track? What did the track do to punish the rider.
I'm glad to see that the authorities arrested him. Speak up and turn numbers in if you see pit riding.
