Jason Wysong, 8, had a terrible crash on March 27, 2002 while practicing on a local MX track in Houston, TX.  He fell on a jump and was running back to his bike when another rider on a full size bike came over the jump and landed on top of him.  Jason was air-lifted and as of April 8th, 2002 he has suffered severe head injuries and has not regained consciousness.

The Wysong's do not have any medical insurance. Donations can be sent to:

We received the following e-mail response to this injury via e-mail on 5/4/2002:

Since [Jason's injury] local tracks have begun to have organized practices by letting the small bikes practice alone and then the big bikes. Hope this helps.

Rich's Response:  Damn it...this is another case that shows trained flaggers should be on jumps during practices.  Eight year old kids should not be riding with adults and bigger bikes.  Practices need to be divided by rider age, bike size, and ability.
