Excerpt From: Cycle News, April 12, 2000, page 3:

Team Suzuki's Greg Albertyn, who broke his femur on February 25 while practicing for the Atlanta Supercross, says he will be ready for the first outdoor national in San Bernardino, California, on May 14.

...Albertyn added that he was unhappy with the amount of time it took track personnel to get him to the hospital, saying "I sat there for 15 minutes. They actually didn't even want to take me to the hospital because they said it was the only ambulance they had, and they wanted to wait until practice was done. So it was absolutely a joke."

Rich's Comments:

We were sorry to see that National Champ, Greg Albertyn, was given the same medical disrespect that amateurs get every weekend. A broken femur can be life-threatening and he should have been taken to the hospital immediately. Once again, if MX wants to copy NASCAR, then why don't they in these situations. NASCAR would never make an injured driver wait until practice was over. Pro riders should form a riders group to try to prevent this from occurring.
