A five year old boy, Tyler Santos, was killed at Las Vegas Motor Speedway last Wednesday after missing a jump and rolling down an embankment. He died later in the hospital.

Motocross track to stay open

Meag's Response: In regards to the recent article on the five year old being killed at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway last week, it's my opinion that it is not entirely to blame on the track itself. I take care of a six year old from time to time and am sometimes barely able to keep his attention long enough to play a game or watch television before he wants to do something else or is bored. The kid in a way is like Rich's dog, they both have a short attention span. Yes, the kid that was killed might have loved riding with a passion but remember he is only five years old. A five year old has the same "passion" over a candy bar. You can't expect him to be as focused and be able look out for safety details as you would a sixteen year old. The fault I find with the track is that if the track is specifically built for young pee wee riders, the builders need to think in the mind frame of the five year olds and how to avoid what mistakes they could make.
